A Lenten Weekend
with Michael Morwood
Easter in a New Story of the Universe
February 22, 23 & 24
The traditional Easter story is embedded in concepts of a God who disconnected from humanity. and in the understanding that Jesus' primary role was to reconnect us with a heavenly God through his death and resurrection. The contemporary "story of the universe" challenges Christians to embrace belief in a Divine Presence everywhere present and active. In this "new story" we are invited to see Jesus revealing the Divine which is always here, and challenging us to give the best possible human expression to this Presence.
Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday take on a radically different perspective when we appreciate that Jesus was far more concerned with God-with-us-here-and-now than with notions of a God who had disconnected from humanity, withholding forgiveness and access to himself.
"There is a new story emerging in consciousness, one that evokes awe, wonder, and reverence as it expands our notion of God"
from the introduction to Praying a New Story
